On April 13-15, 2015, Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), visited universities and institutions in Hong Kong, accompanied by Prof. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, Mr. Chen Shaobin, Assistant President of SYSU, Prof. Ling Wenhua, Director of Office for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs of SYSU, and Ms. Li Hanrong, Director of Education Development & Alumni Affairs Office of SYSU.
Prof. Luo Jun visited The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, The Chinese University of Hong Kong and Lingnan University to discuss enhancing communication and expanding fields of cooperation. He pointed out that people in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao have the same roots. Coordinated development will play a positive role in the economic and social development of the area. SYSU will make use of the geographical advantage of Zhuhai Campus to build the “one hour academic exchange circle” in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, conduct closer cooperation with universities in Hong Kong and Macao, and promote the prosperity and development of Hong Kong and Macao.
At the Government House in Hong Kong, Prof. Luo Jun visited Mr. C Y Leung, the Chief Executive of HKSAR, and discussed issues including education, talent cultivation, maintaining the stability and prosperity of Hong Kong, and promoting the integrated development of Guangdong and Hong Kong.

Prof. Luo Jun visited the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Hong Kong S.A.R., and exchanged opinions with Director Zhang Xiaoming and Deputy Director Qiu Hong on strengthening cooperation with universities in Hong Kong as well as talent cultivation in Hong Kong.

Prof. Luo Jun also had a meeting with Dr. Charles Yeung, Chairman of the Chinese General Chamber of Commerce (CGCC), and Dr. Wong Kwok-keung, Vice-chairman of CGCC. He thanked CGCC for its long term support for SYSU, and hoped that the two sides would conduct deeper cooperation in the promotion of traditional culture and the interaction between Guangdong and Hong Kong.
