On the morning of April 24, 2015, a group led by Mr. Liu Yuelun, Secretary of the CPC Foshan Municipal Committee, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), and had a meeting with the university leaders to discuss plans for further cooperation.

Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, stressed that with a good basis and broad prospects for cooperation, the two sides should deal with concrete problems and deepen cooperation between SYSU and Foshan.
Prof. Luo Jun, President of SYSU, pointed out that SYSU would join hands with Foshan to train urgently needed talents at multiple levels. He hoped that a framework strategic cooperation agreement would be drafted based on the discussions at the meeting.
Mr. Liu Yuelun hoped that Foshan and SYSU would conduct more comprehensive and practical cooperation in the fields such as the upgrading of traditional industries, the cultivation of strategic emerging industries, the research on local governance models, and the introduction of high-end talents.
During the meeting, Mr. Huang Xizhong, Chief Executive of People’s Government of Shunde District, introduced the collaborations between Shunde and SYSU. The participants had in-depth discussions on joint projects between the two sides.
