Prof. Sunhyuk Kim, Vice President of Korea University, visited SYSU

On the morning of May 28, 2015, Prof. Sunhyuk Kim, Vice President of International Affairs of Korea University, and Ms. Myunghwa Jeon, Chinese Relations Manager, Office of International Affairs of Korea University, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Zhu Xiping, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building, accompanied by Prof. Guo Zhonghua, Vice Dean of School of Government, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Zhu Xiping extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced the international cooperation and exchange of SYSU. He said that SYSU has kept a friendly relationship with Korea University since the student exchange program started in 2005. He hoped that the two universities will deepen existing cooperation and expand fields of cooperation.


Prof. Sunhyuk Kim said that he was glad to visit SYSU, and introduced the general situation of Korea University. He expressed that since the new leadership of Korea University took office in March this year, they have paid special attention to cooperation and exchange with universities in China, and SYSU is their strategic partner in South China. He hoped that through this meeting, the fields of collaborations between the two universities will be expanded, and the exchanges between schools and departments as well as scholar visits will be enhanced.

Afterwards, Prof. Sunhyuk Kim held a discussion with Prof. Guo Zhonghua. They exchanged views on deepening collaborations between the schools and departments of the two universities.

Founded in 1905, Korea University is a private research university in South Korea. It has colleges in science, engineering, liberal arts, business, and medicine. In June 2005, SYSU and Korea University signed a university level student exchange agreement, each sending 5 students every year to the other for study. The student exchange program started in February 2006. Prof. Sunhyuk Kim became the Vice President of International Affairs of Korea University in March 2015. This is his first visit to SYSU.
