Dr. Robert J. Jones, President of University at Albany, State University of New York, visited SYSU

On the morning of June 11, 2015, a three-member delegation led by Dr. Robert J. Jones, President of University at Albany, State University of New York (UAlbany), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building, accompanied by Prof. Ling Wenhua, Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange, Prof. Hao Yuantao, Dean of School of Public Health, Prof. Zhang Yingqiang, Dean of School of Sociology & Anthropology, and Prof. Wang Ning, Deputy Dean of School of Sociology & Anthropology.

Prof. Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to the guests and introduced SYSU and its disciplines of strengths. Dr. Robert J. Jones introduced UAlbany and hoped to strengthen cooperation with universities in China. The two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in public health, sociology and anthropology, and expand educational and research collaborations in other fields.

Afterwards, members of the UAlbany delegation held a discussion with representatives of SYSU’s School of Public Health on joint degree program, scholarly exchange and research cooperation.

Founded in 1844, University at Albany, State University of New York (UAlbany) has more than 1,200 faculty and 17,300 students. The School of Public Health at both UAlbany and SYSU established cooperative relations in 2010, and have conducted faculty and student exchange, research cooperation and joint seminars. SYSU’s School of Sociology and Anthropology also has conducted research on Urban China with UAlbany.
