On the morning of June 20, 2015, an 8-member delegation led by Prof. Phung Xuan Nha, President of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Li Ping, Vice Chairman of the University Board, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building.
The attendees of the meeting also included Mr. Yang Qinghua, Director of Office of Development Planning, Mr. Fan Ruiquan, Deputy Director of Office of Medical Science, Ms. Huang Yuansui, Deputy Secretary General of SYSU Education Development Foundation, Ms. Zhang Xiaotong from Education Development & Alumni Affairs Office, and Ms. Wu Xiaoyan, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Li Ping extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced SYSU’s general situation as well as the Vietnamese students studying at SYSU. She hoped that SYSU and VNU will explore the fields of future cooperation on the basis of existing collaborations, strengthen academic cooperation between the schools and departments of the two universities, and conduct multi-form and multi-level student education and scholar cooperation programs.
Prof. Phung Xuan Nha said that he was glad to visit SYSU, and introduced the basic situation of VNU. He hoped that the two universities will strengthen student and scholar exchanges, jointly cultivate students who are familiar with the cultures of both countries, and make contributions to the cooperation and exchange between the two countries in the fields of culture and scientific research.
Established in 1906, the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) is the largest comprehensive higher education and research center in Vietnam. VNU reports directly to the Prime Minister and has high autonomy in academic programs, scientific research and technological development, planning and finance, international relations and other fields. SYSU and VNU signed an agreement of cooperation and exchange in 1996.
