Join hands with Lyon to realize our academic dream

On June 25, 2015, a delegation led by Mr. Gérard Collomb, Mayor of Lyon, visited Guangzhou. Mr. Ren Xuefeng, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Guangdong Provincial Committee and Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee, Mr. Chen Jianhua, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Guangzhou Municipal Committee and Mayor of Guangzhou Municipal Government, and Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), met with the delegation.
At the witness of leaders of the two sister cities, SYSU President Luo Jun signed three agreements respectively with Prof. Jacques Comby, President of Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3, and Mr. Alain LABAT, Acting President of the Association Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois, with the aim to promote cooperation and exchange between SYSU and the universities in Lyon, French government and enterprises. The three agreements are: Memorandum of Understanding between Sun Yat-sen University and Université de Lyon and the Association Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois; Collaboration Agreement on SYSU-Lyon Sino-French Academic Exchange Center between Sun Yat-sen University and the Association Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois; and Collaboration Agreement on Sun Yat-sen - Jean Moulin Sino-French Academic Center between Sun Yat-sen University and Université Jean Moulin Lyon III.
According to the agreements, SYSU and the Association Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois will jointly build the SYSU-Lyon Sino-French Academic Exchange Center, which is located on the first floor of the old village hall of the Lyon Sino-French Institute building. SYSU and Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 will jointly build the Sun Yat-sen - Jean Moulin Sino-French Academic Center. Using these two centers as platforms of cooperation, SYSU will strengthen and deepen the long term cooperative relations with Université Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and conduct collaborative research on European studies. SYSU and the Association Nouvel Institut Franco-Chinois will also conduct student exchanges, faculty exchanges, joint educational projects, joint research projects and joint meetings in the fields of natural sciences, engineering, aviation, humanities and social sciences, economic management, law, etc.
