On July 10, 2015, the seminar on deepening medical reform was held in Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). The seminar was co-hosted by China Social Security Association and SYSU, and undertaken by Lingnan (University) College, Research Institute for Governance, and Social Security Study Center at SYSU. More than 200 people, including experts and scholars from over 40 academic institutions, participated in the seminar.
Mr. Xiao Zhiheng, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of Guangdong Provincial People’s Congress, Prof. Zheng Detao, Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, Prof. Zheng Gongcheng, President of China Social Security Association, and Mr. Wang Dongjin, President of China Health Insurance Research Association, attended the seminar and delivered a speech respectively.
The seminar on deepening medical reform held at SYSU
Prof. Zheng Detao pointed out that it is significant to study deepening the reform of medical and health care system in the economic new normal. The medical and health care system, which involves medical insurance, medical services as well as medical and health industry, needs comprehensive and cross-disciplinary studies. With multi-disciplinary advantages, SYSU has made research achievements in the fields of medical support as well as medical and health care policies. Recently, SYSU established three research platforms, including the Research Institute for Governance, which will integrate our research strengths in medical support, medial and health care, and medical reform.
In addition to the plenary session, the seminar also organized four parallel forums. The participants discussed themes such as the coordination of relations in medical insurance, medical services and medical system, local experiences of medical reform, cost control in health care, construction of medical service system, etc.
