A delegation from the Université libre de Bruxelles visited SYSU

Recently, a five-member delegation led by Prof. Jean-Michel De Waele, Vice-Rector of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB), visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Li Ping, Deputy Secretary of SYSU Party Committee, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus.

The attendees of the meeting also included Prof. Wang Bin, Academic and Administrative Supervisor of School of International Studies; Prof. Zeng Xiaoyang, Head of Department of French, School of Foreign Languages; Prof. Wang Xiaobing, Head of the International Cooperation and Exchange Work Group, Department of Chinese; Mr. Gao Jiuqun, Director of Academic Training Office, Graduate School; and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Li Ping extended a warm welcome to Prof. De Waele, and introduced SYSU’s academic strengths in medical sciences, business, literature and foreign languages. She hoped that SYSU and ULB could enhance communication and make contributions to the happiness of mankind through academic collaborations.

Prof. De Waele said that he was pleased to visit SYSU. He hoped that the two universities would organize short-term exchanges for experts in the fields such as medical sciences and business, and conduct cooperation in joint doctoral program.

Founded in 1834, the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is a comprehensive research university in Belgium. Four scientific Nobel Prizes, one Nobel Peace Prize and one Fields Medal are evidence of ULB’s longstanding tradition of excellence. In the QS World University Rankings 2014/2015, ULB is ranked No.173.
