Mr. Allan Rock, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa, visits SYSU

On the morning of October 20, 2015, Mr. Allan Rock, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa (UOttawa), Ms. Sophia Leong, Director of Executive MBA Program of Telfer School of Management at UOttawa, and Mr. Yukang Li, Managing Director of CIMEX Center and EMBA alumnus of UOttawa, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU).

Prof. Luo Jun, President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus, accompanied by Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, Prof. Xu Yong, Deputy Dean of Sun Yat-sen Business School, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange at SYSU.

Prof. Luo Jun extended a warm welcome to Mr. Allan Rock on his first visit to SYSU, and introduced the University and its recent development. Mr. Allan Rock said that there are a lot in common between the two universities in history, medical service system and development objective. He hoped that the two universities will conduct multi-level educational and research collaborations in various fields. The two sides discussed possibilities of cooperation in health science, humanities and social sciences as well as French language teaching.

Founded in 1848, the University of Ottawa is the oldest and the largest English and French bilingual university in Canada. The Telfer School of Management at the University of Ottawa and Sun Yat-sen Business School at SYSU have established cooperation in student exchange, faculty visit, teaching and research, and signed a MoU last year. Mr. Allan Rock became the President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ottawa in 2008, before which he served as Minister of Justice, Minister of Health, Minister of Industry and Minister of Infrastructure.
