A delegation from Tomsk State University visits SYSU

On the morning of October 29, 2015, a three-member delegation from Tomsk State University (TSU) in Russia visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Members of the delegation included Professor Artyom Rykun, Vice-Rector for International Affairs of TSU, and Associate Professor Irina Shvedova, Director of Confucius Institute at TSU.

Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests, accompanied by Prof. Zhang Ke, Dean of School of Earth Sciences and Engineering, Prof. Zhang Yan, Vice-dean of School of Life Sciences, Prof. Zhou Suhong, Vice-dean of School of Geography and Planning, and Ms. Xu Yao, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange.

Prof. Wei Minghai introduced SYSU’s international cooperation and exchange, and recommended the advantageous research resources. Prof. Artyom Rykun presented TSU’s research resources, faculty and student exchange programs and scholarships. The meeting deepened the mutual understanding and explored the possibilities of cooperation in education and scientific research between the two universities. At present, the School of Life Sciences, School of Geography and Planning, and School of Earth Sciences and Engineering at SYSU are willing to have further discussions with TSU on the possibilities of faculty and student exchanges as well as joint summer schools.

Tomsk State University (TSU) is the largest classical university in the Asian part of Russia, a renowned centre of science, education and innovations. In the 2015/16 QS World University Rankings, TSU is ranked 486th. Its advantageous disciplines include physics, mathematics, chemistry, mechanics, geology, biology, etc.
