On November 3-5, 2015, a delegation led by Prof. Luo Jun, President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), visited the Macao Special Administrative Region.
On the afternoon of November 3, President Luo Jun paid a visit to Mr. Chui Sai On, Chief Executive of the Macao Special Administrative Region, and discussed issues including medical cooperation, talent cultivation, maintaining the stability and prosperity of Macao, and promoting the integrated development of Guangdong and Macao.

On the morning of November 4, President Luo Jun attended the Macau Forum held at Macau University of Science and Technology, and delivered a speech in the discussion on the challenges and opportunities that may derive from higher education diversification. He pointed out that the global framework of higher education institutions is experiencing dynamic and fundamental changes, and universities in developing countries are rising. Facing these opportunities and challenges, Sun Yat-sen University will further emphasize the nurturing of outstanding talents, be further oriented toward academic frontiers, national major strategic needs, and regional economic and social development, and organize big teams and big platforms to conduct scientific research.
On the afternoon of November 4, President Luo Jun paid a visit to Mr. Li Gang, Director of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the Macao S. A. R., and discussed issues including joint research projects and cooperation in talent cultivation in Macao.

President Luo Jun respectively met with Prof. Liu Liang, President of Macau University of Science and Technology, Prof. Lei Heong Iok, President of Macao Polytechnic Institute, and Prof. Zhao Wei, Rector of University of Macau, and discussed issues on strengthening communication, deepening partnership and expanding fields of cooperation. President Luo Jun said that SYSU will make full use of the geographical advantage of Zhuhai Campus to build the “one hour academic exchange circle” in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, and conduct closer cooperation with universities in Macao.

The SYSU delegation also visited Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário and Kiang Wu Hospital Charitable Association, and reached consensus with relevant institutions on promoting long-distance cooperation in medicine between the affiliated hospitals of SYSU and medical institutions in Macao, and using the medical advantages of SYSU to enhance the training of doctors.
