A delegation from Yonsei University visits SYSU

On the morning of December 4, 2015, a five-member delegation led by Prof. Jongryn Mo, Vice President for International Affairs of Yonsei University, visited Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Prof. Wei Minghai, Vice President of SYSU, met with the guests in Zhongshan Building on South Campus. Prof. Pang Zhongying, Dean of School of International Relations of SYSU, and Ms. Gu Wenli, Deputy Director of Office of International Cooperation & Exchange of SYSU, were also present at the meeting.

Prof. Wei Minghai extended a warm welcome to Prof. Jongryn Mo and introduced SYSU’s history and campus construction. He expressed hope that the two universities would deepen existing collaborations and expand fields of cooperation in education and scientific research.

Prof. Jongryn Mo said that SYSU is an important partner for Yonsei University in southern China. He expressed hope that the two universities would increase faculty visits as well as cooperation and exchange between schools and departments.

Afterwards, the delegation from Yonsei University and professors from the School of International Relations of SYSU held a seminar on “China, Korea and the Future of the G20”.

Established in 1885, Yonsei University is the oldest private university in Korea. According to the 2015 QS World University Rankings, Yonsei University is ranked 105th in the world and 18th in Asia. In January 2007, SYSU and Yonsei University signed an agreement on academic cooperation and student exchange, each sending two students to the other for study annually.
