Six More Teachers of SYSU Appointed Special Engaged Professors of the Pearl River Scholar

The 2010 Guangdong Pearl River Scholar subject positions plan and the list of the employed were recently published. Six subjects of SYSU was approved in the position setting, six professors of SYSU were appointed special engaged professors of the Pearl River Scholar. They are Professor Li Zhongfei of Finance and Banking, Professor Chen Wen of Hygienic toxicology, Professor Ma Jun of Oncology, Professor Zhuo Yehong of Ophthalmology, Professor Guo Xianping of Probability Statistics and Professor Meng Yuezhong of High Polymer Chemistry.

The Department of Education of Guangdong Province launched the “Project of plans for Special engaged Professors” in 1999, in order to keep up with the situation and to satisfy its need for high-level talents, the plan was officially named as “The project of Guangdong Pearl River Scholar”, the way of implementation was revised in the meantime. The position setting and employment of the special engaged professors has undergone four processes, namely the application, recommendation of their universities, evaluation of specialists organized by the Department of Education of Guangdong Province and the publicity of the results. A total of 18 subjects of 5 universities set Pearl River scholar positions and 18 professors are employed. SYSU has hitherto 17 professors chosen by the project.
