The 5th Academic Annual Conference for China Grid Held at SYSU
Sponsored by China Grid and co-hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology and Sun Yat-sen University, the 5th academic annual conference for China Grid was held at SYSU from July 16th to 17th. More than 130 specialists and experts from about 40 colleges and universities and research institutes attended the conference.
China Grid is a major project of "CERNET high-speed regional net and construction of key discipline information service" in the 15th 211 Project public service system of the Ministry of Education. Moreover, China Grid is a project sponsored by the National High-Technology Research and Development Project (863 Project).
Focusing on the heated topics in the field of grid computation and distributed computation, the conference invited DEISE expert Professor Wolfgang Gentzsch and Professor Huang Kai from Tsinghua University to give keynote speeches. Professor Wolfgang Gentzsch introduced the framework and service running mode of DEISA Distributed European Infrastructure for Supercomputing Applications in his speech titled DEISA - A Distributed HPC Ecosystem for European Scientists. Professor Huang Kai introduced the course of development and trends from grid to cloud computing and Internet of Things in his speech titled Cloud Computing and Internet of Things.
As participants in high-performance and grid computing research and development in China, company representatives, including Intel, Dawning, QuidWay, CATR and Inspur, also gave speeches respectively on High Performance Computing trends & perspective, Key Technology and application of Dawning Nebulae System, Data Centre of Cloud Computing, Application of Cloud Computing Numerous Data Calculation Technology in Communications, Blue Print of Super-calculation Centre development in Universities, so as to introduce the companies' research progress in the field of high-performance and grid computing to the attendants.
