EHS Center of SYSU Lingnan College and US Department of Energy Jointly Carried Out Free Professional Training

From May 8th to 11th, EHS Center of SYSU Lingnan College held the training on the efficiency evaluation of process heating system with the help of US Department of Energy, the Energy Foundation of US, Institute for Sustainable Communities, Oak Ridge National Laboratory and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory of US. Intending to absorb advanced experience in energy management at home and abroad and to accelerate and promote the capacity building of energy conservation and emission reduction in Guangdong Province, the training received great help from the Development and Reform Commission of Guangdong Province as well as the Economic and Information Commission of Guangdong Province. More than 60 people participated in this training, including academic staff from colleges and universities and professionals from international organizations, energy-consuming enterprises, energy-saving institutes and energy reservation supervision and management departments of Guangdong Province, Guangzhou city and other regions.
Over the course of four days’ training and discussion, Dr. Arvind Thekdi, an experienced scientist from Energy Department of US, gave a plain introduction on the basics of process heating and the evaluation methods of process heating efficiency. And Dr. Sachin Nimbalker, a scientist from Oak Ridge National Laboratory, presented the evaluation methods of process heating efficiency and the steps of data acquisition and collection with the example of “PHAST”, a tool developed by Energy Department.
