China Danxia Shines at European Sandstone Landscape III Conference

Recently, the European Sandstone Landscape III Conference was held at southwest Polish border town Kudowa Zdrój, near the Stolowe Mountains National Park. Representatives across the world exchanged the latest research findings on geology, landscape, biology & ecology, protection management and other aspects of sandstone landscape, and launched in-depth discussions towards issues such as intensifying inter-disciplinary researches on sandstone landscape and improving global acknowledgment. The previous two conferences took place in Slovakia and Luxembourg respectively. SYSU Geography and Planning School Professor Peng Hua, also the chairman of International Association of Geomorphologists (IAG) Danxia Geomorphology Working Group, attended the conference. Professor Peng Hua presented an invited lecture entitled as
Basic Questions on China Danxia Landform, and introduced the thesis named
Study on the Weathering Pattern and Development Process of Danxia Bedding Caves.
European Sandstone Landscape III Conference was jointly hosted by Poland University of Wrocław, University of Life and Environmental Sciences, Stołowe Mountains National Park, and IAG Danxia Geomorphology Working Group. More than 60 specialists and scholars, and National Park administrative staff from Poland, Czech Republic, France, Britain, Germany, Luxembourg and other countries were present at the conference. It was the first time that Chinese scholars were invited to the conference.
