Recently, the State Council announced the list of persons who enjoy the 2012 special government allowances. 12 professors of Sun Yat-sen University received the honor (attached is the list). By far, over 550 experts in Sun Yat-sen University have enjoyed special government allowances.

The special government allowances of the State Council is an incentive system of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China for high-level professional and technical talents and high-skilled talents. The recipient is called State Council Expert for Special Allowance. The State Council carries out the selection every two years. Persons who are approved to enjoy special government allowances will be awarded a certificate and a lump sum of 20,000 yuan.
