SYSU participated in the 15th China Hi-Tech Fair

The 15th China Hi-Tech Fair (CHTF) was held at Shenzhen Convention & Exhibition Center on November 16-21, 2013. As one of the exhibitors and the only university in Guangdong Province to independently participate in the fair, SYSU showcased a series of achievements of scientific innovation and attracted many companies, research institutions and universities with its distinctive booth style, rich content and exquisite exhibition boards. SYSU also won the Outstanding Organization Award presented by the CHTF Organizing Committee for its excellent performance at the fair.

At the fair, 251 hi-tech achievements and products of SYSU were compiled in the exhibit list, among which 33 on display were involved in the fields of biology and medicine, chemistry and new material, electronics and information, environmental protection, modern agriculture, new energy and energy-saving technology. They opened an important window for the transformation and exchange of technological achievements, pushed forward the commercialization and industrialization of the university’s hi-tech achievements, and promoted SYSU’s exchange and cooperation with domestic and international enterprises, universities and research institutes.

As an important part of SYSU’s plan to serve local development, the Action Plan of SYSU for Serving Guangdong’s Development (2013-2016) became a highlight during SYSU’s achievement showcase. The Action Plan puts forward the target tasks, strategic measures and key projects of further deepening the cooperation between Guangdong Province and SYSU in talent cultivation, scientific innovation, medical and health services and social cultural studies. It is of great significance for SYSU’s sound and fast development as well as its comprehensive and high-quality services to Guangdong’s economic construction and social development.

The local research institutes are important platforms and windows for SYSU to serve local development as well as effective approaches to carry out industry-university-research collaborations. So far SYSU has set up 11 local research institutes in cities including Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Foshan and Huizhou. At the fair, SYSU introduced the development situation of its local research institutes, displaying their important functions in carrying out engineering technology research and development and pilot experiment, research achievement transformation, providing scientific services, cultivating high-level engineering professionals and incubating innovative enterprises.

As a representative, Sun Yat-sen University Shenzhen Institute showcased the residential network service system, attracting many visitors with its advanced and convenient functional devices. The system is a series of interaction service applications mainly aimed at community homeowners and in line with the living environment of the community. With digital television as the main human-computer interaction channel and carrier, and with the functions such as intelligent home control, security services, home care, convenience services, electronic commerce and estate management, it provides a package of solutions for intelligent community.
