SYSU awarded Outstanding Contribution to the Cambridge English Mission

During the recent Cambridge English Centenary CEM Conference, Sun Yat-sen University Cambridge English Examinations Center, administered by School of Foreign Languages (FLS) was awarded in recognition of its “outstanding contribution to the Cambridge English Language Assessment mission in China”. In addition, Professor Chang Chenguang, Dean of FLS, Associate Professor Liao Haiqing, Vice Dean of FLS, and Mr. Zhang Jingxun, Vice Director of Administration Office of FLS, were also cited for their individual outstanding contribution.

The Conference was held to mark the centenary of the Cambridge English exams and the 20th anniversary of BEC Examination. Cambridge English Language Assessment took this opportunity to award institutions and individuals working for BEC Examination, review its development and lay out directions in the future. On behalf of FLS, Dean Chang Chenguang, Vice Dean Liao Haiqing and Mr. Wang Shaoli attended the event.

Founded in 1993, SYSU Cambridge English Examinations Center has made substantial contribution to the development of BEC Examination in China. The exam organization of the Center has been undertaken by FLS since its foundation. The annual exam attendants amount to nearly 5,000 and the total number, for the past 20 years, ranks among the top five in China.
