From November 20 to 24, the Cross-Strait University Students Technological and Cultural Exchange Camp of the 14th SYSU Fulan Physics Festival was held on South Campus. Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. The camp was hosted by School of Physics & Engineering of SYSU. More than 140 teachers and students from 18 universities across the Strait participated in the exchange camp, including six universities in Taiwan (National Taiwai University, National Sun Yat-sen University, National Tsing Hua University, National Central University, National Chung Hsing University and National Soochow University), and twelve universities in the mainland (Peking University, Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Fudan University, Nanjing University, Nankai University, Wuhan University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, Jilin University, Sichuan University, Shandong University and Sun Yat-sen University).

The exchange camp is themed on “academic exchange” and “cultural exchange”, including lectures by renowned experts, presentations by students, cultural tour, evening party and physical experiment report competition. Students from different universities were grouped into 16 experiment teams, and completed the corresponding tasks as required. The teachers provided direct guidance to the students in the preparation of the experiments, and served as judges and guests offering comments in academic presentations and report competition.
University students across the Strait doing an experiment together
The camp received praise from teachers and students across the Strait. The participating universities shared their experiences in practical education, and learned from each other the ideas and methods of talent cultivation. The students broadened their academic horizons and improved their professional qualities and teamwork ability.
It is learned that the Cross-Strait University Students Technological and Cultural Exchange Camp has been held four times. The cooperation has constantly expanded and the exchange has deepened because the event follows the law of education and the law of talent growth, exploring an effective mode to improve the undergraduates’ comprehensive abilities, and providing a beneficial experience of interuniversity exchange.
