Prof. Huang Jin from School of Geography and Planning receives Chinese Geography Achievement Award

On the afternoon of November 30, Zhang Guoyou, Secretary-General of the Geographical Society of China (GSC), came to Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hospital (South Division) to visit Prof. Huang Jin and wished him good health. Secretary-General Zhang Guoyou presented the “Chinese Geography Achievement Award” to Prof. Huang Jin on behalf of GSC. Bao Jigang, Assistant President of SYSU, Zhang Yuanxun, Secretary of School of Geography and Planning, Liu Zufa, Vice Dean of School of Geography and Planning, and You Yan, Assistant Dean of School of Geography and Planning, also attended the visit.

Secretary-General Zhang Guoyou highly praised Prof. Huang Jin for his outstanding contribution to the research on Danxia Landform in China. The 86-year-old professor thanked the academic community for their care and support, and reported the one-month field research in Tibet in October this year.
The Chinese Geography Achievement Award is established by the Geographical Society of China (GSC) to commend researchers and educationists who have made outstanding contributions to the research and teaching of geographical science. Only two professors are honored with the 4th Chinese Geography Achievement Award.
Prof. Huang Jin is praised as “Modern Xu Xiake”. He conducts field research on Danxia Landform for several months every year. His conscientious academic attitude, practical working style, perseverance and righteousness inspire more students to devote themselves in the research on Danxia Landform.
