SYSU Academic Exchange Conference held

On the morning of January 3, SYSU Academic Exchange Conference was held in Swasey Hall on South Campus. President Xu Ningsheng, Academician Chen Xiaoming, Professor Huang Tianji and representatives of high level talents attended the conference, which was presided over Vice President Wei Minghai.

President Xu Ningsheng pointed out that high level talents at SYSU should be confident in their pursuit of academic excellence. Meanwhile, the University should have policies and measures to support their development.
Academician Chen Xiaoming said that high level talents should pay attention to disciplinary developments, aim at higher academic goals, and take an active part in international and national academic exchanges to expand academic influence.
Professor Huang Tianji pointed out that to have academic ideals we should start from the University’s academic tradition. In academic studies, we should develop what others do not have, excel at what others have, do big things, have noble ambitions and strive for more say.
The representatives also discussed how to support high level talents to advance their careers, exchanged views on the difficulties encountered in scientific research and team construction, and put forward suggestions for the University.
Vice President Wei Minghai thanked the representatives for their suggestions and introduced the preliminary plan of the University. He said that the University should have comprehensive policies and supporting measures which cover various resources, and mobilize resources according to the different needs of high level talents to support their development.
