The science and engineering papers from SYSU gained fruitful results in 2013: 8 papers from the School of Life Sciences were published in journals with impact factor over 8.0 including
Nature Biotechnology,
Hepatology,
PNAS, etc; 10 papers from the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering were published in journals with impact factor over 8.0 such as
Advanced Materials,
JACS,
Angew.Chem.Int.Ed., etc; 9 papers from the School of Physics & Engineering were published in journals with impact factor over 7.0 including
Advanced Materials,
PRL,
Nano Letters, etc; 5 high-level papers from the School of Mathematics & Computational Science were published; 4 papers from the School of Information Science and Technology were published in high-level journals; 9 papers from the School of Environmental Science and Engineering were published in high-level journals such as
Atmospheric Chemistry and Physics,
Water Research, etc; 4 high-level papers from the School of Geography and Planning were published; 1 high-level paper from the Department of Earth Science was published; 9 papers from the School of Engineering were published in journals with impact factor over 5.0 including
Nature Communications; and 1 high-level paper from the School of Marine Sciences was published.
It is worth special mentioning that the research team led by Professor Chen Yueqin from the School of Life Sciences published their findings in internationally renowned journal
Nature Biotechnology (IF=32). The study proves that overexpression of microRNA OsmiR397 improves rice yield by increasing grain size and promoting panicle branching. It is of important theoretical significance and potential application value.
