Professor Wei Minghai is selected into the list of 2013 Renowned Accounting Experts Cultivation Project by the Ministry of Finance

The Ministry of Finance recently announced the list of 2013 “Renowned Accounting Experts Cultivation Project”. Professor Wei Minghai, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University, was selected into the list.
The “Renowned Accounting Experts Cultivation Project” is launched by the Ministry of Finance with the aim to implement the Medium and Long-Term Development Plan for Accounting Talents (2010-2020), foster a batch of renowned accounting experts with outstanding achievements, and promote the overall development of accounting talents. Professor Wei Minghai’s inclusion into the list marks a new achievement of SYSU in top-notch talent construction, and it will promote the development of the accounting discipline at SYSU.
Professor Wei Minghai received his bachelor degree in economics at Jiangxi University of Finance and Economics (1984), MBA at Tulane University, USA (1999) and PhD of economics at Xiamen University (1991). In 1991, he started his teaching and research in the School of Business, SYSU. His current research areas are capital market and investor protection, corporate finance and investment, corporate governance and accounting, etc.
Professor Wei Minghai was appointed Associate Professor in 1992 and Professor in 1994. He started as a doctoral supervisor in 1998. In 2004-2005, he had been a Fulbright research scholar at Carnegie Mellon University, USA. He was then appointed SYSU Accounting and Audit Department Head, Deputy Dean and then the Dean of School of Business, Director of the Office of International Cooperation and Exchange, Chairman of Industry Group and Assistant President of SYSU. Since September 2011, he has been Vice President of SYSU.
