SYSU won six University Excellent Research Achievement Awards of the Ministry of Education in 2013

The results of the 2013 University Excellent Research Achievement Award (Science and Technology) were announced recently by the Ministry of Education. Sun Yat-sen University won six awards.
"The Theory of Ricci Flow and Its Geometric Applications" by Professor Zhu Xiping’s team, and “Novel mechanisms of immune environments in hepatocellular carcinoma progression” by Professor Zheng Limin’s team won the first prize of Natural Science Award. “Petrogenesis, mineralization and chronology in plate subduction and exhumation progress” by Professor Sun Xiaoming’s team, “The studies of chloride channels effect on crebrovascular remodeling and the underlying mechanisms” by Professor Guan Yongyuan’s team, and “The study of novel mechanism of age-related vascular endothelial injury and cell repair” by Professor Tao Jun’s team won the second prize of Natural Science Award. “Theoretical and clinical research of multiple sclerosis and related demyelinating diseases” by Professor Hu Xueqiang’s team won the second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award.
In 2013, the Ministry of Education granted a total of 311 University Excellent Research Achievement Awards (Science and Technology), including 117 first prizes and 194 second prizes. Among them were 120 Natural Science Awards (42 first prizes and 78 second prizes). SYSU won 2 first prizes of Natural Science Award, ranked the third in universities in China.
