On April 24, the report meeting on 2014 SYSU undergraduate innovation training projects was held in Lingnan Hall on South Campus. Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President Chen Chunsheng and Director of University Dean’s Office Deng Shaozhi attended the meeting. 165 projects at national level and provincial level were divided into groups for evaluation and defense, and 11 expert judges were invited to give on-site comments. 44 projects were rated by expert judges as excellent.
On the basis of “innovation training program”, "entrepreneurship training program", and “entrepreneurial practice program”, SYSU has established a multi-level "undergraduate innovative ability training system", including undergraduate innovation and entrepreneurship training programs at national, provincial and university level respectively.
From 2006 to 2013, SYSU has spent over 13 million yuan in funding 597 national projects, 1,028 provincial projects and 1,682 university projects, involving about 17, 000 students. These high-quality innovation and entrepreneurship projects, led by undergraduate students, greatly enhance the students' innovative spirit and practical ability, and also promote the continuous and in-depth development of the university’s teaching practice.
