On the morning of May 12, the welcoming ceremony for the 2014 Chinese Bridge Delegation from Myanmar was held in David Sin Hall at SYSU. Professor Zhou Xiaobing, Director of Base for International Chinese Teaching Materials Development & Teacher Training (CTM) and Dean of School of Chinese as a Second Language (SCSL) at SYSU; Zhang Nian, Deputy Director of Training Department of CTM; and 10 principals of primary and secondary schools in Myanmar attended the ceremony.

Director Zhou Xiaobing extended a warm welcome to the guests, and introduced the tradition and the general situation of SYSU, SCSL and CTM. He pointed out that it was the second time for CTM to host the delegation from Myanmar, and hoped that both sides would gain a lot from sharing and communicating.

During the one-week visit, the delegates will participate in rich and colorful activities, such as academic lectures, educational observations in the affiliated kindergarten and primary school of SYSU, as well as second language classes at SYSU.
It is learned that Confucius Institute Headquarters (Hanban) will invite 70 primary and secondary school principals from 6 ASEAN nations, namely Myanmar, Indonesia, Laos, Cambodia, the Philippines and Singapore, to participate in the Chinese Bridge activities from May to November in 2014.
