On August 13, the Cross-Strait Seminar on Medical Humanities, which was hosted by School of Sociology and Anthropology, organized by Center for Medical Anthropology and Behavioral Health, and co-organized by School of Nursing and The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University, was held on our North Campus.
Prof. Tsai Tu-Chien (Taipei Medical University), Prof. Kuo Su-Chen (National Taipei University of Nursing and Health Sciences), Dr. Liang Tsi-Ann (Pingtung Christian Hospital), and Chen Yu-Chia (Social Empowerment Alliance and Foundation of Medical Professionals Alliance in Taiwan) was invited and presented at the seminar.
Cross-Strait Seminar on Medical Humanities held at Sun Yat-sen University
Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), met with the Taiwan delegation, accompanied by representatives from relevant functional departments, schools and units of SYSU. The two sides exchanged views on humanism in medical education and hospital practice, and reached preliminary intentions on issues such as research topics, methods, medical student training and textbook publication. Vice President Li Mengfeng said that SYSU would promote Medical Humanities courses in the medical school in the future.
In the afternoon, the delegation visited The Sixth Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and held a discussion on clinical ethics consultation and doctor-patient relations.
