The Second International Forum on Cooperation and Sharing of Library Resources for East Asian Studies was held in Sun Yat-sen University Library on South Campus on October 17, 2014. The forum is organized by the Union of International Cooperation and Sharing of Library Resources for East Asian Studies in University Libraries, and has been successfully held twice. The Union aims to integrate library resources for East Asian Studies and build a platform for the cooperation and sharing of these resources.
The Second International Forum on Cooperation and Sharing of Library Resources for East Asian Studies
was held in Sun Yat-sen University Library on South Campus.
At this forum, library representatives from universities in North America, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, mainland China introduced in detail the library resources for East Asian Studies, especially those precious resources such as precious ancient books in Han and Tang dynasty, historical documentation during the Republic of China period (1912-1949), traditional opera works, maps, chorography, etc, and put forward valuable suggestions and proposals about how to promote the cooperation and sharing of those resources. The experts also had heated discussions about the construction of the international cooperation and sharing platform for the library resources for East Asian Studies as well the operation and development of the Union.
Over 30 library directors and experts from mainland China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, America, Canada, etc, participated in the forum, including directors or deputy directors of Havard-Yenching Library, East Asian Library of University of Chicago, East Asian Library of University of California-Berkeley, East Asian Library of Stanford University, East Asian Library of University of Washington, East Asian Library of University of Toronto, Peking University Library, Tsinghua University Library, Nanjing University Library, Sun Yat-sen University Library, Xiamen University Library, University of Hong Kong Libraries, Library of Macau University of Science and Technology and National Taiwan University Library.
