Two research achievements of SYSU receive 2014 national awards for science and technology

On January 9, 2015, the National Science and Technology Awards Conference was held in the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. CPC and State leaders Xi Jinping, Li Keqiang, Liu Yunshan and Zhang Gaoli attended the conference and presented certificates to representatives of the award winners.

The research team of Prof. Zheng Limin receives the second prize of State Natural Sciences Award.


The research team of Prof. Liu Yizhi receives the second prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award.
 
State Preeminent Science and Technology Award, State Natural Sciences Award, State Technology Invention Award, State Science and Technology Progress Award, and International Science and Technology Cooperation Award were conferred at the conference. Two scientific research achievements of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU) won awards: the project “Novel regulatory mechanisms of immune micro-environments in human hepatocellular carcinoma progression” undertaken by the research team of Prof. Zheng Limin from the School of Life Sciences won the second prize of State Natural Sciences Award; the project "Creation and Application of Vision Restoring System for Cataract Blindness and Low Vision” undertaken by the research team of Prof. Liu Yizhi from Zhongshan Ophthalmic Center won the second prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award. In addition, 3 projects with SYSU as a participating university received the second prize of State Science and Technology Progress Award. The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center, which has long term science and technology cooperation with SYSU, received International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.

Academician Yu Min of the Chinese Academy of Sciences won the 2014 State Preeminent Science and Technology Award. There are 1 first prize and 45 second prizes of State Natural Sciences Award; 3 first prizes and 67 second prizes of State Technology Invention Award; 3 grand prizes, 23 first prizes, 173 second prizes and 3 innovation team prizes of State Science and Technology Progress Award. Seven foreign scientists and a foreign organization receive International Science and Technology Cooperation Award.
