National Research Base for Quality Monitoring and Evaluation in Higher Education unveiled in SYSU

On January 13, 2015, the unveiling ceremony of National Research Base for Quality Monitoring and Evaluation in Higher Education was held in The First Meeting Room of K.K. Leung Hall on South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Mr. Wu Yan, Director of Higher Education Evaluation Center of The Ministry of Education, and Prof. Chen Chunsheng, Executive Deputy Secretary and Vice President of SYSU, signed the agreement to construct the "National Research Base for Quality Monitoring and Evaluation in Higher Education" and unveiled the plaque of the research base. Prof. Guo Qingshun and Associate Professor Qu Qiongfei of the research base, as well as representatives from the departments of education in Guangdong, Jilin, Shaanxi and Guangxi attended the event. The ceremony was presided over by Prof. Ma Jun, Vice President of SYSU.

The research base is aimed at establishing a long term platform of collaborative research to improve quality monitoring and evaluation in higher education, and to provide professional services for universities, government and the society.

Mr. Wu Yan said that the establishment of the research base is of great significance for providing theoretical and decision-making support for the quality monitoring and evaluation in higher education.

Prof. Chen Chunsheng pointed out the importance of education evaluation for undergraduate teaching, saying that SYSU attaches great importance to the quality of undergraduate teaching, and will fully support the construction of the research base.

The “National Research Base for Quality Monitoring and Evaluation in Higher Education”, located in the School of Education of SYSU, will conduct research on the formulation of teaching quality report, the development of teaching data bank, the monitoring of teaching quality, etc.
