SYSU projects receive funding from NSFC in 2015

Recently, National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) announced the evaluation results of 2015 programs. So far, 533 SYSU projects have received funding from NSFC, and the total funding amounts to over 289 million yuan, with the number of funded projects ranked 6th and the total funding ranked 7th among universities nationwide.
This year the NSFC funding for SYSU projects includes: 314 projects in General Funding (a 20.3 percent increase compared with last year) with funding of 185.287 million yuan; 187 projects in Young Scientists Fund (an 8.2 rise compared with last year) with funding of 35.696 million yuan; 14 projects in Key Program with funding of 39.52 million yuan (ranked 5th among universities nationwide); 7 projects in Excellent Young Scientists Fund with funding of 9.1 million yuan (ranked 8th among universities nationwide); 1 project in National R&D Program for Major Research Instruments with funding of 4.86 million yuan;1 project in Key International (Regional) Joint Research Program with funding of 2.35 million yuan; it is noteworthy that the project “Geometry and Topology on Manifolds”led by Professor Zhu Xiping is the fourth SYSU project that is funded under the category of Science Fund for Creative Research Groups.
