On the morning of November 18, 2015, the Guangzhou Seminar of the “2015 Research and Innovation Tour: Where Europe and China Connect” was held in Lingnan MBA Teaching Building on the South Campus of Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU). Dr. Laurent Bochereau, Minister Counsellor of the Delegation of the European Union to China, Dr. Xing Jijun, Deputy Director of the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC), and Prof. Li Mengfeng, Vice President of SYSU, attended the event and delivered welcome remarks.
Representatives from Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, the United Kingdom and the EU Delegation respectively introduced the research and innovation projects and methods of application. Prof. Wang Xuemei, Vice Dean of School of Environmental Science and Engineering of SYSU, and Dr. Zhong Qian from Sun Yat-sen University Cancer Center, were invited to give testimonials at the seminar.

The Guangzhou Seminar, which is the last leg of the “2015 Research and Innovation Tour: Where Europe and China Connect”, is organized by the Delegation of the European Union to China and the China Science and Technology Exchange Centre (CSTEC) under the Ministry of Science and Technology, with support from the Office of Scientific Research and the Office of International Cooperation & Exchange at SYSU. The event has attracted many SYSU faculty members and students and has improved our understanding of the EU programs. It has encouraged the audience to acquire international and national resources to conduct research collaborations and has promoted international research cooperation at the University.
The Research and Innovation Tour is the 4th edition of an ambitious awareness raising campaign leading through 17 cities in 16 provinces across China. With an introduction of Europe's excellence in science and innovation, the Tour seeks to shape a vibrant EU-China research and innovation community through an array of European research and innovation opportunities.
