The participants included Tao Liang, Deputy Director of SYSU’s Office of Scientific Research & Development; Zeng Lu, Director of the Scientific Cooperation & Exchange Section of Guangdong Provincial Department of Science and Technology; Gu Wenli, Deputy Director of SYSU’s Office of International Cooperation & Exchange; Prof. Ian Mackinnon, Executive Director of the Institute for Future Environments at Queensland University of Technology (QUT); as well as Chinese and Australian experts in the fields such as tissue engineering and regenerative medicine, seasonal disease prevention/control and public health, software information, air quality science, and biofuel (biotechnology).
Zeng Lu reviewed the previous cooperation between the two sides and made proposals for future cooperation. He expressed hope to perfect the cooperative mechanism in the future and attract more scientists and social institutes to form a bigger cooperation circle. He also hoped that through the Research Workshop, the scholars can make suggestions for this year’s QUT special program supported by the Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province.
QUT professors Ian Mackinnon and Zoran Ristovski, SYSU professors Wang Xuemei, Hao Yuantao, Mao Xueli and Wang Xueqin respectively reported on the developments of last year’s projects and future research plans. SYSU professor Yang Depo introduced his research field and hoped to establish cooperation with Australian scholars in biofuel research. The experts held group discussions on the application for this year’s QUT special program supported by the Science and Technology Planning Project of Guangdong Province.
