Cheng Haidong, President of Tunghai University, Taiwan, Lectures the Third Speech of SYSU College Study Forum
The third speech of SYSU College Study Forum was held in Swasey Hall on the afternoon of June 1st. Cheng Haidong, president of Tunghai University, Taiwan, gave a lecture on the topic of “Liberal Education and Liberal Arts College of Tunghai University”. Chen Chunsheng, vice president of SYSU attended and hosted the forum.
President Chen Haidong narrated Tunghai University’s engagement in the promotion of liberal education and establishment of the Liberal Arts College. Tunghai University had implemented liberal education from its inception and is the first university to have general education implemented in Taiwan. The Liberal Arts College was established last year with an attempt to foster an education mode which integrates everyday learning with moral education. The notions and practice of Tunghai University provide valuable reference to SYSU in its promotion of liberal education and general education in recent years.
The heads, administrative staff and students from the affiliated departments and schools also attended the forum. This forum was co-organized by Institute of Higher Education Research, Office for Hong Kong, Macao & Taiwan Affairs and President's Office.
