Mr. Zhu Zhumou’s Posthumous Works Added to SYSU’s Library Collection

On July 1, a ceremony in which Mr. Chen Shigu donated the posthumous works of Mr. Zhu Zhumou, one of the four famous poets of Qing Dynasty and a great master in modern Ci theories was held on South Campus. Guests attending the ceremony included Chen Shigu, the eldest son of Chen Xun, Professor of Department of Chinese, Sun Yat-sen University and a famous specialist on Ci theories, Cultural Celebrity Deng Qitong, Chen Yongzheng of the Institute of the Chinese Classics, Sun Yat-sen University, Peng Yuping of Department of Chinese, and Chen Huanwen, the curator of the university library.

The donative posthumous works included over ten letters Mr. Zhu Zhumou (His title was Jiangcun) sent to Professor Chen Xun (His title was Haixiao) in 1920s and 1930s. Through the good offices of Professor Chen Yongzheng, Mr. Chen Shigu declined many collectors’ purchases of fancy price and decided to donate these precious letters to SYSU’s library free of charge.

Curator Chen Huanwen awarded the donation certificate and the gifts to Mr. Chen Shigu on behalf of the library. Mr. Deng Qitong also donated a set of “Four Great Master’s Ci Collectanea of Qing Dynasty” to the library.
