Research Achievement of Professor Li Baojun nominated for the “2009 major Achievements of Optics in China”

On March 16, the 5th laser technology forum and the conference for “2009 major Achievements of Optics in China” took place in Shanghai. The conference was jointly sponsored by the Shanghai Institute of Optics and Fine Mechanics, Chinese Academy of Sciences and MMI,and undertaken by Chinese Journal of Lasers, Acta Optica Sininca, Laser & Optoelectronics Progress, Chinese Optics Letters as well as Chinese Optics Journal. , the research achievement accomplished by Professor Li Baojun together with his research group from School of Physics & Engineering, SYSU, was nominated for the “2009 major Achievements of Optics in China”.

Using the kinking technology under microscope, Professor Li Baojun and his research group successfully assembled a nanometer line refractive index sensor based on coupling principle. This not only improves sensitivity but also achieves dynamic adjustment of sensor property. Meanwhile, it brings about experimental result on the depending relationship between coupling efficiency and the wavelength of the optical signal input, the crossing angle of nanometer lines as well as the diameter of nanometer lines, etc. The research results were published on ACS Nano 3(2009)3110 and Optics Letters 34(2009)1597 respectively.
