May 15th, 2010 Guangzhou science and technology week and “100 academicians’ visiting to Guangzhou” was launched in the Guangzhou Science Center. Researchers from our school took part in it with several research achievements . Academician Su Qiang was invited to the opening ceremony.

At the ceremony, Guo Xiangyuan, member of the State Ministry of Science and head of the provincial discipline inspection, Wan Qingliang, Vice Governor of Guangdong Province and Mayor of Guangzhou city, and Xu Zhibiao, Vice Mayor of Guangzhou had been to the stand of Sun Yat-sen University, riding on the electric car designed for the Asian Games with much enthusiasm. Prof Zong Zhijian, Associate Dean of the school of engineering introduced the performance of the electric car to all of the honored guests. Associate professor Sun Wei from SYSU and Pro Zhan Yifu respectively gave presentations including the "Web-based three-dimensional domain space travel device simulation system", "the applications of the object-based network system for food traceability in the Guangzhou Asian games " and other research and application achievements .It was said that the theme of the event is “technology of the Asian Games, innovations of Guangzhou ", with the aim to promote technology and information in the supporting role in hosting the Asian Games, and to promote the active participation of the whole society for the purpose of building innovative city.
