19 Professors of SYSU Appointed as the Second Term Advisory Specialists in Decision-making by the Guangzhou Municipal Government

Recently, upon approval of Guangzhou Municipal Government, the policy research office announced the list of the second advisory specialists in decision-making. 117 people in total are appointed the second term advisory experts for Guangzhou Municipal People’s Government and they are sub-divided into 11 expert groups. 19 professors from Sun Yat-sen University are appointed in development strategy and other 9 expert groups respectively. They are (order in strokes of names): Wang Shenming, Wang Jun, Shen Shuguang, Liu Heng, Xu Jiarui, Yu Zhi, Li Jiangfan, Li Shenglan, Chen Guanghan, Zhou Chunshan, Luo Funan, Xu Anlong Xuan Qifeng, Guo Xiaocong, Ma Guoqing, Huang Jianwu, Huang Jiwu, Peng Shaolin, Cai He.

As is said, to seriously implement the scientific development concept, to further perfect the government’s decision-making mechanism and to develop more scientific and democratic decisions, Guangzhou Municipal Government has decided to establish an advisory expert database in policy decision-making since 2005. The expert database, which is an important part of the government’s decision-making system and mainly plays the role of “think-tank”, provides consulting services for the government, integrating theory and practice, strategies and techniques as well as principles and procedures. In principle, the expert candidates are appointed every three years.
