Professor Sun Peiwu of SYSU Received “Lifetime Achievement Award for Cardiovascular Surgeon” from the Chinese Medical Doctor Association
On May 29th, the presentation ceremony for “Outstanding Contribution and Lifetime Achievement Award” from the China Cardiology Association of CMDA was held in Changsha. More than 1000 cardiovascular professionals from the national health system attended the meeting. Professor Sun Peiwu from the First Affiliated Hospital of SYSU won the “Lifetime Achievement Award for Cardiovascular Surgeon” for his outstanding achievements in clinical study, scientific research and teaching.
Professor Sun Peiwu is Ph.D. supervisor of cardiovascular and member of International Society for Cardiovascular Surgery Asia. He was the committee member of the National Cardiovascular Surgery, Deputy Chairman of the Mid-South Cardiology Association, Vice-Chairman of Guangdong cardiothoracic surgery Association and the review panel member of the State Natural Science Fund and the key foundation of the Ministry of Health. For 56 years, Professor Sun Peiwu has been dedicated to cardiovascular treatment, teaching and researching. As one of the earliest cardiovascular professionals, he grows together with our country’s cardiovascular science, and has cultivated a good many post graduates and medical professionals. Professor Sun has made an intensive study on the subjects of CHD-PH and complex CHD valvular surgery, etc. Besides, Professor Sun has made a comparative study on pulmonary vascular disease by qualitative and quantitative analysis. What’s more, his research project of basis and clinical application of Deep Hypothermia and Low-Flow Cardiopulmonary Bypass has been awarded the second of National Prize for Progress in Science and Technology. That research project has been awarded many times by Provincial Department of Public Health and Provincial Scientific and Technological Commission, which has also been awarded Pioneer Award for Technological Revolution by the Ministry of Health.
Professor Sun has published more than 80 academic articles in journals domestic and abroad, and has also edited two reference books on cardiac surgery.
