"Physics Seminar of SYSU & Celebration for the 60th Anniversary of Professor Li Zhonghua’s teaching” held

"Physics Seminar of SYSU & Celebration for the 60th anniversary of Professor Li Zhonghua’s teaching” was held by School of Physics and Engineering (SPE) on the south campus from June 5th to June 6th. Academician Ge Molin, Xian Dingchang and Xu Ningsheng also Vice President of SYSU, Professor Li Zhonghua, Wang Biao, dean of SPE and Ouyang Kequan, Sectary of CPC Committee of SPE attended the meeting. Many scholars from famous universities and scientific research institutions both domestic and abroad, colleagues and students of Professor Li Zhonghua and representatives of SYSU also presented at the meeting.

Vice President Xu Ningsheng delivered a speech at the meeting. He stressed that Professor Li Zhonghua is a famous physician and founder of classical theory of gauge fields in China, he had outstanding performance in teaching, research, academic exchange and administration, and he has made great contributions to intellectual training and theoretical physics research for both SYSU and the country. President Xu Ningsheng also pointed out that the older generation of SYSU physicians represented by Professor Li Zhonghua achieved great success in discipline construction and development of physics for our university, all of which had great influence in the world and will become the motivation of our further efforts.

More than 30 physics experts from the U.S.A, France, Swiss, and China etc. presented 17 academic reports after the celebration. Many fields including the fundamental question of quantum mechanics, gauge field theories, cosmology, astrophysics, coacervation physics, quantum optics, statistical physics, physics of finance, history of physics etc. were touched in these reports. Scholars also discussed on their recent research and concerns in physics. The questions and speeches from the students enlivened the academic atmosphere of the meeting.
