Standard Index of Guangdong LED Lighting Products Co-issued by the Foshan Research Institute of SYSU

The standard index of LED lighting products which originates from Guangdongprovince was issued at the “Announcement Meeting of Standard Index of Guangdong LED Lighting Products” on June 23rd, in Zhongshan, Guangdong. This is the first time that LED street

lights have been evaluated dynamically. More than 400 representatives from Guangdongtechnology bureau, media and LED industry attended the meeting. Also attended the meeting was Professor Wang Gang, director of the Foshan Research Institute and a member of State Key Laboratory of Optoelectronic Materials and Technologies of School of Physics and Engineering. He gave a speech on the initial issue of standard index of Guangdong LED lighting products.

As a new industry in the world, LED lighting’s fast development calls for the revision of the standard. The Guangdong Science and Technology Department launched “Green Lighting City Demonstration Project of Guangdong Province”. Although it enjoys a fast development, LED lightening technology has not been fully developed, so the central aim of the project is to apply the most important index relating to the quality of LED lightening products in quality checking and more over, to establish a dynamic LED lightening products evaluating system. Together with third party detection and unified evaluation, the system will be used in evaluating and grading LED lightening products in the market, starting with street lights. The detecting methods and standards will be updated dynamically according to the standards and technical methods newly released at home and abroad.
