Hainan Introduces SYSU Enterprise-college-research Power to Co-build International Tourism Island

On the afternoon of September 17th, Hainan provincial government and SunYat-sen University signed the enterprise-college-research cooperation agreement. As part of the general development strategy of international tourist island of Hainan, SYSU will continually play its advantage of technology and talents, and strongly support and actively participate in the development of international tourist islandof Hainan.

Hainan governor Luo Baomin said that SYSU has been supporting Hainan a lot in intellectual cultivation. Since Hainan became a special economic zone, SYSU has recruited more than 1400 Hainan students, most of whom have become the backbone in the economic and social sector of Hainan.

Luo said that the development of international tourist island has become part of national strategy, which means a new mission and challenge for Hainan, and asks for technology, talent and intelligence support. Therefore, it needs support of famous institution from home and overseas. The cooperation between SYSU and Hainan will provide a new way for the enterprise-college-research combination. Hence, it will build a high-end platform to enhance Hainan’s capacity for independent innovation, and insert a strong impetus for Hainan’s international tourist island development.

According to the agreement, both sides will co-build a research and development base to promote SYSU and Hainan development zone, large enterprise to form a technological alliance, so as to build a technological innovative platform for enterprise-college-research combination. Tourism Development Committee of Hainan Province and School of Tourism Management SYSU will jointly build Hainan Tourism Research Institute, so as to promote Hainan’s tourism theory study and talent cultivation, and actively promote the development process of world-class leisure destination island. School of Software SYSU, Hainan Province Software Industry and Information Technology Department and Qiongzhou College will jointly build Hainan Digital Tourist Island Research Institute, making Hainan a world leading digital tourist island and promoting Hainan’s tourism management and service compliant with international standards.

According to the reports, both sides will also carry out cooperation in talent cultivation and training, health care and inter-universities communication. HainanProvince and SYSU will jointly establish a group for enterprise-college-research cooperation. HainanProvince governor and Principle of SYSU will be the group leader.
