Nobel Prize Winner Named SYSU Honorary Director

Guangzhou, November 9 (Nanfang Daily): According to Nanfang Daily, yesterday, Jean-Marie Lehn, Nobel winner for Chemistry and professor of France University of Strasbourg, received the appointment letter from SYSU president Huang Daren’s hand and took the post of honorary director of the newly-built SYSU Lehn Institute of Functional Materials.

The institute, named after Lehn, is an international cooperative scientific research institute. Since this year, the institute has begun to directly recruit doctoral candidates, who are selected and cultivated jointly by foreign supervisors and Chinese collaborators.

Jean-Marie Lehn is not only the Nobel winner for Chemistry in 1987 and the “father of Supramolecular Chemistry”, but also a foreign academician of ChineseAcademy of Sciences. SYSU professor Chen Xiaoming, who is also a member of ChineseAcademy of Sciences, works as the executive director for the institute.
