Prof. Jing Awarded the Fifth “Soong Ching-ling Pediatric Prize”

On 4 November, the awarding ceremony of “the Fifth ‘Soong Ching-ling Pediatric Prize’ - Pediatric Forum” was held in Changsha. The project Systematic Research of Children’s Neuropsychological Features in Chinese Reading Disorders of Prof. Jing Jin from School of Public Health SYSU has won this prize and this is the second time that SYSU has won it.

The project Systematic Research of Children’s Neuropsychological Features in Chinese Reading Disorders undertook by Prof. Jing began in 2001, and has got financial aid from national and provincial institutes, also from international cooperative projects. It has set up a platform for the diagnosing, curing and studying of children’s Chinese learning disorders in China. And its PRS and TOM are innovative and proposed for the first time in China. The new findings of this research project have been adopted by many medical and educational institutions in China and provide important references for the children’s learning and reading disorders. They also advance the developments of children’s learning disorder studying and developmental and behavioral pediatrics in China.

"Song Ching-ling Pediatric Prize” is initiated by China Soong Ching-ling Foundation and the Ministry of Health, and has been authorized by the Ministry of Science and Technology as a permanent prize. Beginning in the year 2005, this prize is awarded each year to the researchers who have made great contributions to pediatrics. Till now, “Song Ching-ling Pediatric Prize” has exerted profound influences upon pediatrics and attracted many young and middle-aged talents who devote themselves to pediatric researches. This prize provides a chance for showing results and exchanging ideas among them, and gives impetus to innovation in pediatric researches and a devotional spirit to pediatrics. At the same time, “Song Ching-ling Pediatric Prize” improves the healthcare works for women and children and the quality of the newborn.
