School of Chinese as a Second Language Holds HSK for the First Time
On October 5, the Schoolof Chinese as a Second Language held HSK (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi) for the first time. Ninety three students from South Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Indonesia and Russia took part in the different levels of HSK ranking from level 2 to level 6.
The exam Supervisor of China National Office for Teaching Chinese as Foreign Language also Deputy General Manager of CTI Xie Ouhang arrived at SYSU and trained the staff related to the exam. The Dean of the Schoolof Chinese as a Second Language Zhou Xiaobing visited the staff and expressed his appreciation for the careful preparations they made. He also hoped that the exam would be successful.
China's Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi, known as HSK or the Chinese Proficiency Test is a standardized test at the state level designed and developed by the HSK Center of Beijing Language and CultureUniversity to assess the Chinese proficiency of non-native speakers (foreigners, overseas Chinese and students of Chinese national minorities). HSK consists of the basic Chinese proficiency test (HSK Basic), the elementary and intermediate Chinese proficiency test (HSK Elementary-Intermediate) and the advanced Chinese proficiency test (HSK Advanced). HSK is held regularly in China and other countries simultaneously in March, 2010. It has been 20 years since SYSU set the first examination site in 1991 in south China region.
The Schoolof Chinese as a Second Language has a team of high-quality examiners. The supervisor in chief and the examiners of this exam all attended the new HSK training meeting held in Wuhan in November. The seven teachers of SYSU all got the qualifications.
