【Yangcheng Evening News】 Guangdong Won 6 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations

From Yangcheng Evening News Recently, the Ministry of Education and State Academic Degrees of the State Council approved the result of 2011 National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations. 97 excellent doctoral dissertations were selectedwhile256 were nominated. Guangdong Province had 6 dissertations selected and 13 nominated.

Sun Yat-Sen University won more excellent doctoral dissertations than any others Guangdong Province, with 4 selected and 5 nominated, ranking the 4th place nationwide together with Zhejiang University. South China Normal University and Southern Medical University each had one excellent dissertation selected.

The selection of National Excellent Doctoral Dissertations was initiated in 1999. Sun Yat-Sen University (including the former Sun Yat-Sen Medical University) wins the most rewards within Guangdong Province, having 25 dissertations selected in total. The second is South China University of Technology, with 5 selected dissertations. In this year’s selection, Peking University ranked the first place nationwide with 9 excellent doctoral dissertations.
