【Science Times】Eight Chinese Scholars Were Elected Academicians of TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences)

(Reporter by Ding Jia) Recently, the 22nd Academician Conference of TWAS was held in Trieste, Italy. Witnessed by nearly 300 representatives from more than 50 countries and areas, eight scientists from mainland China were elected the new Academicians of TWAS.
The eight scientists are Zhao Guoping, researcher of Institute of Plant Physiology & Ecology, Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences, CAS, and academician of the Chinese academy of sciences, Wang Hongyang, professor of the Second Military Medical University affiliated Eastern Hepatobiliary Surgery Hospital and academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, Bao Xinhe, researcher of Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Xu Ningsheng, professor of Sun Yat-sen University and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Zheng Yongfei, professor of University of Science and Technology of China and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Sun Changpu, researcher of Institute of theoretical Physics and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Shouyang, researcher of Academy of Mathematics and Systems Science and Lin Wenjuan, researcher of Institute of Psychology, Chinese Academy of Sciences.
By the end of Oct, 2011, there are 161 Academicians of TWAS and 5 youth correspondent academician in mainland China. 40 scientists have won the TWAS Award and 20 have won the TWAS Regional Award.
