SYSU Professor Yang Guowei’s Team and Professor Shi Suhua’s Team were Honored the Second Prize of National Natural Science Award

SYSU School of Physics and Engineering Professor Yang Guowei’s team’s “Basic Research on Metastable Nanomaterial’s Growth” and School of Life Sciences Professor Shi Suhua’s team’s “Study of the Mode and Mechanism of Plant Molecular Phylogenetics and Adaptive Evolution” were honored the second prize of National Natural Science Award.(First prize was in vacancy). As the first completed unit, Guangdong Province was honored four second prizes of the National Natural Science Award, and two of them were from Sun Yat-sen University.
374 projects and 10 experts of science and technology were awarded the 2011 Annual National Science and Technology Award. Among them, two people were awarded the National Top Science and Technology Award and 36 projects were awarded National Natural Science Award. The first prize was in vacancy. 36 projects won the second prize. There were 55 projects won the National Award for Technological Invention, among them, 2 projects won the first prize and 53 won the second. There were 283 projects that won the National Award for Science and Technology Progress. One won the grand prize, 20 won the first prize and 262 won the second prize. Eight foreign scientists were awarded International Scientific and Technological Cooperation Prize of the People's Republic of China.
