SYSU Undertook Hanban 2012 Chinese Language Volunteer Teachers Selection Test for the First Time

During Feb 11th to 12th, Sun Yat-sen University undertook Hanban(China National Office for Teaching Chinese as A Second Language) 2012 Selection Test of Chinese Language Volunteer Teachers for Thailand, Philippines, Nepal and the United States (Guangzhou examination site). Eight examiners from SYSU School of Chinese as A Second Language, School of Foreign Languages, Xiamen University, Jinan University and American International School of Guangzhou participated in the selection. Principals from Hanban Teacher’s Office and Hanban Wu Zhou Han Feng Company supervised the selection and made sure that everything went smoothly. More than 60 candidates from Jinan University and other Universities in Guangdong Province took the exam held on the fourth floor, the third teaching building of Sun Yat-sen University.
This year Hanban has established 15 exam sites for Chinese volunteer teacher selection, and this was the first time SYSU undertook Hanban Chinese volunteer teacher selection. SYSU had attached great importance to the selection. Professor Huang Daren, former president of SYSU and chairman of School of International Chinese Teaching Material and Training Base and relevant principals from SYSU International Exchange Office gave special guidance to the process. During the exam, Chairman Huang Daren visited examiners and gave his support and guidance.
The selection was well-organized and properly arranged. After the selection, Hanban Teacher’s Office and Hanban Wu Zhou Han Feng Company gave high comment to the School of Chinese as A Second Language for their organization and warm welcome.
